Re: Creating Personnel Area for Glasgow

Hi,

I wouldn't recommend to add a new reagion, unless you are really sure this is reflecting the political and postal structure of the country.

What actually qualifies as a region in the UK is has probably never been understood 100% by anybody not born in the UK ;-) Regions represent counties, but there si a bit of a mess between metropolitan, non-metropolitan and ceremonial counties and their change over time and unitary authorities that can be relevant as well. There are threads in the SCN discussing this aleady, but two points of advice:

- don't even try to figure it out yourself. Ask the customer which county they need to see for their address. They know best.

- if you find it messy for addresses (never seen a country, where infotype 0006 is maintained so chaotically and inconsistently as across the UK), you have the Royal Mail on your side: Whilst all Brits love using their counties in addresses (but not enough to write the full name of the county) it is no longer an official part of an address and not required to send a letter. Therefore, I'd always try to argue with the customer to leave them out of printed addresses anyway.

best wishes

Sven
